Types of PhiContour EyeLiner

Liquid Liner - This type of liner can be done as a wing or wedge shape. Many guests find this liner well suited for their face as it lifts the outer edge of the eye upwards, creating a more youthful appearance. This liner is meant for the top of the lid only and looks beautiful accompanied by lash enhancement on the lower lash line.

Velvet Liner - Pigment is placed heavier towards the outer edge of the eye and gradually decreases towards the tear duct. It can be done with a more dense edge or with a blended edge for a shadow effect. This liner is meant for the top of the lid only and looks lovely with lash enhancement on the lower lash line.

Lash Enhancement - A small amount of liner is placed between the lashes, but not over the lash line. This can be placed on both the upper and lower lashes or just the top or just the bottom.

  • If you prefer only wearing liner on your lower lash line, a heavier styled line can be placed within and along the exterior of your lower lashes.

Annual Refresh - If you have previously been tattooed by Rachel and are ready for a touch up, the fee is $350 if the touch up is performed within 48 months of the initial application. This service does not include a perfecting touch up; however, if you would like to schedule one, the fee is $80.

Old PMU - Tattooing on old PMU requires an in house consultation or an image to be sent to Rachel. In most cases, if you were tattooed by another PMU artist, your liner will require the standard two sessions.

PLEASE NOTE: All services will be charged tax. Due to updated safety protocol, an additional $5.00 may be charged to each guest for the addition of PPE. Any service performed at a salon other than Total Image Salon, in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia will include an additional $25 fee.

BAsic Information

PhiContour is a kind of cosmetic tattoo meant for the eyes. With the help of the finest needles, color pigments are implanted in the upper layer of the dermis of the eyelids. Permanent eyeliner is generally suitable for anyone and can be tailored to fit every skin type. The aim of a perfect pigmentation eyeliner is to create freshness and an optimal harmony in the face. Using the fine pigmentation method, the natural beauty of anyone’s face will be emphasized, but irregularities will also be compensated for. With a perfectly designed eyeline you can enjoy a fresh and perfect look in all situations, professional look that saves time and look good even when performing exercise! If performed properly, pigmentation will be recognizable without overpowering the overall appearance of your eyes.

The technique is intended for anyone over the age of 18. In order to successfully perform the treatment, the skin around the eyes must not be in the regeneration process, i.e. it must not be damaged. If there is eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, pimples or any damage in the eye area, seven days before treatment the guest can use PhiTopic cream that will eliminate the problems and can be purchased from your technician.

Pain during the treatment is relative. Scared guests usually feel stronger pain, while the other guests compare such pain with the one that they feel when plucking out their eyebrows or from a sunburn. In addition, it is not recommended to do the treatment while menstruating or under extreme stress or fatigue due to an increased sensitivity to pain. Light anesthetics, in the form of cream and/or gel, is used to eliminate some sensitivity during the procedure if no allergy is present. Swelling, bruising and blurry vision post treatment are possible but usually subside within 3 days of treatment.

Pigment is applied using a machine in the surface layer of the dermis. Pigment is determined according to the guest’s preference. After recovery, pigment can become several nuances lighter.

Treatment is done by using sterile and disposable tools and pigments are of the highest standard (PhiContour or Ever After pigments). Inserted pigment is very dark during the first 5 to 7 days. Seven days later, it loses up to 40% of its intensity. If you think that pigment is too dark, do not try to fade it by yourself.

The duration of pigment retention in your skin depends on the skin oiliness. The more emollient the skin is, the shorter pigment retention will be. Immediate sweating and sun exposure also affect pigment retention. On average, expected time until new refreshment of pigment is 3-5 years. If the skin is oily, it may be necessary within 1-2 years. Healing is usually completed 28-46 days after treatment.

Post-treatment care makes 70% of total treatment success. Conscientiously adhere to the given post treatment aftercare advice as provided by Rachel.

How successful the treatment will be depends on:

  • skin quality

  • post-treatment care

  • exposure to various external influences

None of these factors are under the Artist’s control, thus providing any guarantee for the treatment is not possible.

Please consult with your artist if you:

  • have problematic skin

  • have serious health issues

  • take certain medications

  • already have an old PMU on your eyes

Complications are possible and include, but are not limited to the following: discomfort, scabbing, bruising, swelling, scarring, allergic reaction, infection, pigment migration, color/change, sensitivity in the tattooed area, Sarcoidosis, Koebner, Ectropion, ablation, eyelid necrosis, the loss of eyelashes and secondary cicatricial ectropion. It is also important to note that botulin toxin and/or filler injection and plastic surgery of the face can change the appearance and lead to the distortion of PMU.

Before the treatment

Before each treatment, the skin should not be burnt, nor in recovery or regeneration process. It is also recommended that you become familiar with the post-treatment aftercare procedures.

The following are not recommended 30 days before the treatment:

  • Botox and fillers

  • avoid caffeine and alcohol

  • laser treatments

  • chemical peel

  • exposure to strong sunlight

** Please review the full list of pre-procedure advice on the PMU tab of this website prior to treatment.
