Types of PhiBrows

Microblading - Best suited for dry or slightly combination skin. Pigment is placed in a hair like pattern, just below the surface of the skin. The stroke pattern and color will mimic the natural growth pattern and shade of each guest’s existing hair. This is the most natural type of eyebrow tattoo because it resembles hair and is best for clients who do not have much brow hair to begin with.

Combo Brows (Microblading + Shading) - Combination brows can be tailored to almost every skin type, with the exception of those with extremely emollient skin. Pigment is placed throughout the brow in a hair like patter and then a heavier amount of pigment is placed towards the outer edge of the brow using the shading technique. This type of eyebrow PMU is meant for individuals who prefer a look that appears more dramatic and styled than microblading alone or who need target shading to create more density in sparse areas of the brow.

Powder Brows (Machine Shading) - Powder brows can work for any skin type and last the longest of any technique. This type of eyebrow tattoo is preformed using a PMU machine and places a soft layer of pigment just below the surface of the skin. Shading looks gradient and is heavier towards the outer tail of the brow while becoming lighter towards the head of the brow. This type of PMU does not involve individual hair strokes and is meant for individuals who prefer a look that appears more like makeup.

BAsic Information

PhiBrows is a manual, semi-permanent technique of hyper-realistic eyebrow drawing in which the shape of eyebrows is calculated according to facial morphology, features and golden proportion (phi 1,618). The technique is intended for anyone over the age of 18. In order to successfully perform the treatment, the skin must not be in the regeneration process, i.e. it must not be damaged. If there is eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, pimples or any damage in the eyebrows area, seven days before treatment the guest can use PhiTopic cream that will eliminate the problems.

Pain during the treatment is relative. Scared guests usually feel stronger pain, while the other guests compare such pain with the one that they feel when plucking their eyebrows. In addition, it is not recommended to do the treatment while menstruating or under extreme stress of fatigue due to an increased sensitivity to pain.  Light anesthetics, in the form of cream and/or gel, will eliminate some sensitivity during the procedure if an allergy is not present.

Pigment is applied manually in the surface layer of the dermis. Pigment is determined according to the natural color of the eyebrows and hair. After healing, pigment can become several nuances brighter compared to the immediate results.

Symmetry is calculated using the PhiBrows application of the natural facial morphology and features. It is calculated while the guests’ eyes are closed because mimetic muscles (that can affect eyebrows’ symmetry) are relaxed. Strokes are always drawn in the direction of natural hair growth in order to achieve hyper-realistic eyebrow look.

Treatment is done by using sterile and disposable tools, while using pigments of the highest standard (PhiBrows microblading pigments). After at least six weeks of recovery, you will return to the studio for your perfecting application.

Inserted pigment is very dark during the first 5 to 7 days of recovery. Seven days later, it loses up to 40% of its intensity. If you think that pigment is too dark, do not try to fade it by yourself. The duration of pigment retention in your skin depends on the skin oiliness. The more emollient the skin, the shorter pigment retention will be. Immediate sweating and sun exposure also affect pigment retention.  On average, expected time until new refreshment of pigment is 12-16 months. If the skin is oily, it may be necessary within 6 months. Healing is usually completed around 14-28 days post treatment.

Post-treatment care makes 70% of total treatment success. Conscientiously adhere to the given aftercare advice as provided by Rachel.

How successful the treatment will be depends on:

  • skin quality

  • post-treatment care

  • exposure to various external influences

None of these factors are under the Artist’s control, thus providing any guarantee for the treatment is not possible.

Please consult with your artist if you:

  • have problematic skin

  • have serious health issues

  • take certain medications

  • already have an old PMU on your eyebrows

Complications are possible and include, but are not limited to the following: discomfort, scabbing, bruising, swelling, scarring, allergic reaction, infection, pigment migration, color/change, sensitivity in the tattooed area, granuloma and sarcoidosis. It is also important to note that botulin toxin and/or filler injection and plastic surgery of the face can change the appearance and lead to the distortion of PMU.

Healed combo brows and velvet eyeliner.

Before the treatment

Before each treatment, the skin should not be burnt, nor in recovery or regeneration process. It is also recommended that you become familiar with the post-treatment aftercare procedures.

The following are not recommended 30 days before the treatment:

  • Botox and fillers

  • avoid caffeine and alcohol

  • laser treatments

  • chemical peel

  • exposure to strong sunlight
